Tentative Title:

APOE4 and Alzheimer’s Disease: Mechanistic and Therapeutic Aspects

The Yadong Huang lab at UCSF explores the genetic Alzheimer's risk factor ApoE4, and how this risk factor promotes Alzheimer's disease in both ABeta-dependent and -independent mechanisms. In particular, they use mouse models to understand how ApoE4 causes a deficit in hippocampal inhibition, which leads to altered network states, behavioral deficits, and a variety of cellular and molecular dysfunctions. In recent years the Huang lab has also explored strategies to restore inhibitory / excitatory balance in Alzheimer's, using genetic, pharmacological, and stem-cell based therapies.

Phil Nova is making a private visit to Aarhus and kindly offered to provide us with highlights of the past few years of research in the Huang Lab and their current and future directions.
