Maternal use of the antiepileptic drug Valproate (VPA) during pregnancy is linked to cognitive impairment such as autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) in the offspring. This dissertation concerns key questions related to how the antiepileptic drug valproic acid (VPA) affects the mature brain and foetal development in an animal model related to ASD.
