As a researcher, molecular biologist and associate professor, I am interested in the interplay between the immune system and metabolic changes, with a particular focus on patients with diabetes and obesity
My research is focused on immunometabolism, where we investigate the interaction between the immune system and metabolic changes in patients with diabetes and/or obesity, with a particular focus on diabetic complications including fibrosis. Through cell models, characterization of tissue biopsies and biomarker analyses, we are working to better understand the mechanisms behind the development of diabetic complications.
At the Medical/Steno Research Laboratory (M-lab), where we conduct highly specialized clinical research, my primary area of responsibility is quality assurance of our biomarker analyses and development of new immunoassays.
