Research

The central theme of my research is the functions of the liver, including metabolic and hepatobiliary liver function, and how these are affected by disease. One particular focus is ammonia as a byproduct of impaired liver function and its impact on other organ systems, including the brain. A significant portion of my research revolves around physiological in vivo studies and molecular imaging, including PET scans

Collaborations

In my research, I have established a broad collaboration network within Aarhus University Hospital, involving researchers from the Translational Neuropsychiatry Unit, Dept. of Nuclear Medicine and PET, Steno Diabetes Center, and Dept. of Pathology. Additionally, I have engaged in several international research collaborations and undertaken research stays abroad at the Université de Montréal, Canada, and University College London, UK. I am also a member of the ISHEN Translational Committee
