I conduct research on a wide range of diseases and premorbid conditions related to disturbances in basal metabolism and the cardiovascular system. For this purpose, I use PET imaging along with a variety of metabolic tracers, including [11C]palmitate, [18F]FDG, [11C]OHB, and [15O]H2O. We employ interventions such as prolonged fasting, ketogenic diets, and other dietary approaches, and characterize the functional changes that these interventions induce.
I teach medical students about the application of PET/CT in the diagnosis of lymphoma and inflammatory diseases. Additionally, I provide postgraduate teaching on various specialist training (A-level) courses and several PhD courses.
I collaborate with researchers in Sherbrooke, Canada, to investigate the effects of ketones on organ function in both healthy individuals and patients with various neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases. Additionally, I work with the medical industry to implement nuclear medicine diagnostic methods ([15O]H2O PET) for the evaluation of patients with ischemic heart disease.
