Mass spectrometry is a Swiss Army Knife method with applications from basic to clinical science. I work with mass spectrometry-based methods - proteomics in particular - to investigate molecular mechanisms of disease, evaluate novel treatments and discover new signaling pathways. I have a special interest in the workings of so-called gasotransmitters, and I am currently investigating the interaction of CO2 with the proteome.
My research is interdisciplinary and has, besides my direct affiliations with Zoophysiology and Research Unit for Molecular Medicine, involved collaboration with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, University of California San Diego, USA, Università di Padova, Italy, and Aarhus University Center of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience.
