CNRU (Cognitive Neuroscience Research Unit)is an interdisciplinary research group with the overall goal to understand the fundamental relation between mind and brain. Many research topics within cognitive neuroscience are fundamentally linked to this question, not least the question of how consciousness - subjective experience - can be explained. Much clinical work relating to neuroscience relate to basic questions of mind-brain connections as well - e.g. in the treatment and understanding of coma or psychiatric disorders. Most research projects are in CNRU are “topic based” and not “discipline based” - i.e. a variety of methods and traditions are applied in collaborations between e.g. basic neuroscience, experimental psychology and philosophy.
